Human Capital Management in Healthcare

Public Health systems are among the world’s biggest employers, many with hundreds or thousands of employees to manage. The NHS is the 5th biggest employer worldwide with a workforce totalling 1.7 million. Digitisation, and in particular mobile penetration, has created new, effective and efficient ways for hospitals and trusts to manage their human capital. Find out more on Ampersand’s recent human capital management collaboration with a large NHS Trust.

GOING DIGITAL

The NHS is mandated to ‘go-digital’ by 2023 and there is explosive demand for cost effective access to technology that can replace workplace inefficiency and increase engagement. Ampersand developed a simple, effective app that facilitates employee interaction with the HR department, reduces administration costs and allows access to important employment resources anytime and anyplace.

LICENSING IP SAAS

Ampersand’s platform will be available to other organisations within the NHS in early Summer 2017. Please get in touch or visit www.askhr.3amp.com to find out more.

COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS

Ampersand co-creates smart digital services with hospitals and trusts. As a social impact business, we share the values of the NHS and its staff. We will work with you to craft services that save time, money, effort and usually paper and we will help ensure that it complies with best practice and institutional guidelines, so that your staff, patients and managers benefit from cost-effective, timely e-service implementation.

Health Data

Public and private healthcare institutions recognise the importance of digital innovation in improving patient experience and patient outcomes.  A central underlying requirement is well structured data . Ampersand is an award-winning provider of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) technology that increases patient engagement, reduces hospital costs and improves efficiency by creating a stream of status data that can readily be incorporated into standard clinical processes. Check out our case studies to find out more how we’ve helped NHS Trusts build robust and easy-to-use software that captures PROMs data.

PROMS

Patient Reported Outcome Measures are health outcomes directly reported by patients pre- and post- medical treatment. PROMs are widely captured using paper-based questionnaires and surveys that are rapidly being replaced by e-PROMs, facilitated by email and mobile applications.

E-PROMS CREATE EFFICIENCY

At present, clinicians spend 7-10 minutes on work-ups at the beginning of each appointment. They rely on quasi anecdotal accounts by patients which may not be an accurate reflection of patient status over the treatment period.

SAAS IP LICENSING

The market for patient reported data capture is unconsolidated, global and spans public and private health, insurance and pharma sectors. Ampersand has developed a suite of PROMs software, including a mobile offering for patients and a SaaS platform for clinicians and administrators; that facilitates PROMs capture from patients with any chronic condition, as well as providing medication and appointment reminders, signposting and portable patient records. The suite launches in Summer 2017.

Conversational Agents

Understanding the “taxonomy” of Bots, as they are commonly referred to, is an important precursor to developing an agent capable of staying on-brand and amplifying the level of your customer engagement. Most of us are familiar with Siri, Cortana, Google Assistant and of course Alexa, which are all examples of relatively sophisticated voice recognition AI conversational agents. They rely on deep learning generative models, allowing them to perform a wide range of tasks, in context, however they are generally not capable of long conversations, which limits their ability to drive a customer experience. At the other end of the spectrum, the Skyscanner Bot can hold a longer conversation (where do you want to go, when, etc), but is dependent on a retrieval model that limits the breadth of conversation it can undertake. We are always happy to discuss what the taxonomy of your bot should be.

Market Potential

The global chatbot market (GBM) in 2015 was valued at around $113m. It is forecasted to expand to a CAGR of 27.8% from 2016 to 2024 in terms of revenue. By 2024, the GBM is expected to reach $994.5m – suggesting vast market potential. Our advice? Act now

Integration of bots on social media

From recent studies, we understand that from 2011 to 2015 messaging apps have grown from 200mn monthly users to 2.8bn. Whereas, social media apps have experienced a growth of 1bn users in 2011 to 2.3bn users in 2015. Solid indications of where the future of bots exist.

Limitless Potential

Conversational agents can be integrated into most messenger apps, including Skype, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Twitter and so on, allowing you to target your audience on the platform that suits them best.

Cash in on Mobile

Outline

The emergence of several key trends in the mobile app space dictates the main monetization strategies. First, the free-to-play model is on the rise and seems to be here to stay. Second, the apps that monetise best have a clear monetisation model built into the app’s design and overall user experience. Third, advertising continues to be the largest source of mobile revenue although in-app purchase revenue is steadily catching up. Download the whitepaper to get an insight into the available mobile monetization models. Download Whitepaper

The FUNNEL

Acquisition is the starting point of the mobile revenue funnel and the first 2-4 weeks are the most important in retaining your users. After you’ve got your users in, it is important to keep them engaged by – for example – using an app’s functionality as a means of engagement.

MONETIZATION

It is only after a user has been “secured” that monetization can start. Rarely does a user monetize on the first few sessions. There is a plethora of revenue channels in the mobile space, from paid downloads to in-app items and subscriptions. Every app business will have a different monetization strategy to make it profitable.

UX DESIGN

A good user experience is one of the most crucial elements of an app’s success. It can make or break the app. Most apps create an experience that hooks the user and slowly decrease the free-of-charge model. The key is to make it as seamless as possible while making sure your customers are happy to pay for extras, without getting frustrated!

AI & Machine Learning

The Future of Mobile

Technology powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning now serves millions to billions of people. It is not a vision of the future- it is happening here and now. So how can your business leverage these new technologies to transform your operations and engage a wider audience? In this free white paper, we explore the history of AI, how early adopters such as Google, Apple and Amazon are using it, and the opportunities it holds for mobile businesses.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

AI is a multi-disciplinary field focused on building computing systems capable of performing increasingly human-like functions. In a world of ubiquitous connectivity, AI technologies are powerful tools for solving and automating complex business and operation problems.

HEALTHCARE

With the rise in wearables and AI, healthcare is a particularly exciting field where machine learning is already starting to make a huge impact. We are starting to detect and monitor health conditions in real-time which will significantly improve patient outcomes.

AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES

Perhaps one of the most exciting advancements in mobile is that of autonomous ground, aerial and water based vehicles. These include self-driving cars alongside drones, for both commercial purposes (eg. automated deliveries) and personal transport.

How to cash in on mobile in 2016

Introduction

These days it seems every person you know has a great idea for an app, and they can talk all day about what the app will do and how unique it is. But when you ask them how the app will generate revenue, they generally don’t have much to say. This is hardly a surprise. Monetising on mobile is a relatively new business and it can be difficult to identify revenue opportunities, let alone formulate and implement strategies to take full advantage of these opportunities. Just as e- commerce required numerous iterations for over a decade to provide viable business models and established best practices (not to mention a seamless consumer experience), monetisation on mobile also has some way to go before methods and strategies are crystallised.

Trends

The emergence of several key trends in the mobile app space, however, should not be ignored:

First, the free-to-play model is on the rise and seems to be here to stay. More and more apps are providing a free experience while actively attempting to monetise the user after installation.

Second, the apps that monetise best have a clear monetisation model built into the app’s design and overall user experience. It is a bad idea to build the app first and then try to figure out how to monetise it.

Third, advertising continues to be the largest source of mobile revenue although in-app purchase revenue is steadily catching up. High grossing apps have succeeded by taking full advantage of large user bases, without allowing ads to disrupt the overall user experience.

Finally, the most successful apps are those that tailor their monetisation strategies by platform.
